Yankee colonists began inhabiting Chicago, Illinois after 1830, due to the rich farming soil. It also takes visitors through the evolution of space suits, from the first models to Neil Armstrong's Apollo suit.

As the Lincoln Park Zoo does not feature fish, the Shedd Aquarium makes a fine complementary visit. Visitors can attend an aquatic show featuring belugas and dolphins at the aquarium's Abbott Oceanarium Amphitheatre. The Amazon Rising display features rays, spiders, piranhas, anacondas and crocodiles. The Caribbean Reef features the moray eel, sharks, parrotfish, rays and the green sea turtle. Sea lions, sea otters, belugas, dolphins and more can be found at the Abbott Oceanarium and the Polar Play Zone features penguins and a sea star touch pool. Knife fish, a giant octopus, sea stars and moon jellies inhabit the Waters of the World.
